Vineyard Information:
Filigreen Farm is situated on 97 acres in Anderson Valley, just outside of the town of Boonville as you're heading northwest. It is a Demeter-certified Biodynamic and CCOF-certified organic diversified farm whose primary products are tree fruits, blueberries, olives, wine and table grapes, and houses a production garden (flowers and vegetables), livestock, apiary, and an ongoing inquiry into water revitalization.
Situated between mixed coniferous forest of redwood and fir to the west and oak woodland to the east, Filigreen borrows from both climatic zones to house a diverse range of cultivars. Chris and Stephanie Tebbutt are stewards of Filigreen Farm and work with other families year-round to experiment and research different techniques to enable the farm to be productive in an independent and sustainable way. In 2023, we harvested Dijon 115 clone Pinot Noir from Filigreen Farm in mid-late September.
Tasting Notes: Hold up a glass of the 2023 Filigreen Farm Pinot Noir to the light and you’ll see a rich, crystalline garnet color. Take in the nuanced aromatics, which show notes of brambly lingonberry, fresh violets, dried cherry, cedarwood, and sweet tarragon. The palate is bursting with juicy Alpine strawberry and rhubarb, balanced by a brisk acidity and peppery tannins. A mixture of herbal and earthy notes show through, including roasted shiitake mushroom, fennel, cool pennyroyal, and pink peppercorn.
In this vintage, we used a mix of once-used and neutral French oak barrels, yielding a subtle toast that broadens the mid palate. Light on its feet, yet bountiful with its red fruit core, the wine resolves into a lengthy finish showcasing dried lavender, clove, and subtle cedar all framed with incredibly fine-grained tannins. Drink now and enjoy over the next 10 years.
